Ecstasy
Other names: Sharks, Shreks, Smurfs, Little Fellas, Jack and Jills, PSPs.

Ecstasy is an upper (stimulant) and comes in tablets with different pictures stamped onto them. It usually takes about half hour for the buzz to kick in from when you have taken the tablet. This depends on how pure the tablet is and if it has been mixed with anything else. Depending on the strength of the tablet the buzz can last 20mins or hours and you normally have a long and slow comedown.

It is easy to develop a tolerance so you end up having to take more to get the same effect which is very dangerous.

Risks and Dangers
People who use Ecstasy can become confused, paranoid, have panic attacks and sometimes have fits.

Ecstasy affects your body temperature and makes you very hot so you must try and keep cool. You should drink small amounts of water sipped at regular intervals, for example, making a pint of water last for about an hour. You must be careful not to drink too much water as this can be dangerous and could lead to death. It is important that you do not drink alcohol with ecstasy.

Some evidence suggests that long term use can cause depression, personality changes and memory loss.

Ecstasy has been linked to liver damage, kidney damage and heart problems.

The Law
Ecstasy is a Class A illegal drug (see The Law page)

If you are caught with ecstasy on you then you will be arrested and you can get up to 7 years in prison. If you are caught giving it to friends or selling it then you could be sent to prison for life and/or be fined.
